How Can Celebs be so Stupid?

A couple days ago it was Cybill Shepherds 22yo son and today it's Antwon Tanner, in a wave that has celebs doing the dumbest stuff you ever heard of.

Shepherds son,Cyrus Shepherd-Oppenheim, got picked up by airport security in Philly for stealing passengers belongings while they slept on a United Airlines flight. Rifling through carry-on luggage, he managed to swipe a digital camera, leather make-up case (what would he even do with that?) and a small travel bag before getting caught. His mother has had a successful acting career that spans 30 years and before that she had ties to Elvis Presley so it's not as if she doesn't have money. I'm certain she does..not to mention his father is a successful doctor. So, why would he have his hands in someone else' luggage? It doesn't make sense.

And then Tanner, of One Tree Hill fame, was sentenced to 3 mos in lock up for peddling social security numbers and cards. Here's a guy whose acting credits go back over ten years. 34 years old, so he can't plead youth as his excuse...he's just pathetic. However, he found himself involved in a ring of people scamming identities off unsuspecting people, the absolute horror of the whole thing is, where's the necessity?

If he stole meat to feed his family..I might understand. But Tanner was in a movie with Samuel L. Jackson, remember Coach Carter? So, it's not like he needed the money or if he DID he shouldn't have had to resort to stealing other peoples identities to get it. In my opinion that's one of the lowest things you can do to another human being.

Thieves, people who will walk up to you and stick a gun in your face and TAKE your belongings are the worst pigs imaginable. Thieves who can climb in your window and steal your t.v/VCR/shoes/clothes/jewelery etc. are also the worst pigs imaginable...we had to WORK years for most of that stuff so who has the right to just walk up and take it? Awful!

But thieves who can take your whole existence, which is what your social security number basically is, and sell it to the highest bidder, are even lower than the worst pigs imaginable because at least you know when you've been robbed. You don't know you've been identity 'thefted' until your credit card is declined in the Target! That Tanner only got 3 mo's is disheartening too. If I was one of the people impacted by his actions I'd be deeply saddened that my hardship is only worth 3 mos to a rich dude gone wrong.
