Pat Robertson blames Haitians for 'Quake..

Televangelist Pat Robertson has struck again. In the wake, of the devastating earthquake that hit Haiti this week, Pat Robertson didn't hesitate to put in his two cents. On Wednesday, he announced that Haiti has been "cursed by a pact they made with the devil".

Now, Robertson has historically made controversial comments and made no apology for them but this is certainly one that crossed the line. To blame the worst natural disaster in the history of Haiti on a pact with the devil, implying that they somehow deserved this as punishment just went way too far. All the women, children, elderly and volunteers that are missing, dying or dead...they certainly didn't deserve this.

But he's doing what he always does...

However, what's frightening is that he has a platform and a public voice with millions of viewers that hang on his every word. So if his followers are believing his theory, then that's scores of people that will turn a blind eye to the plight of an entire country. People that could otherwise text $5 (text: yele to 501501, Wyclef Jeans Yele Haiti Foundation) or $10 (Red Cross) and aid in the relief efforts that the rest of world are presently putting forward.

How are his comments different from hate crimes?

How Can Celebs be so Stupid?

A couple days ago it was Cybill Shepherds 22yo son and today it's Antwon Tanner, in a wave that has celebs doing the dumbest stuff you ever heard of.

Shepherds son,Cyrus Shepherd-Oppenheim, got picked up by airport security in Philly for stealing passengers belongings while they slept on a United Airlines flight. Rifling through carry-on luggage, he managed to swipe a digital camera, leather make-up case (what would he even do with that?) and a small travel bag before getting caught. His mother has had a successful acting career that spans 30 years and before that she had ties to Elvis Presley so it's not as if she doesn't have money. I'm certain she does..not to mention his father is a successful doctor. So, why would he have his hands in someone else' luggage? It doesn't make sense.

And then Tanner, of One Tree Hill fame, was sentenced to 3 mos in lock up for peddling social security numbers and cards. Here's a guy whose acting credits go back over ten years. 34 years old, so he can't plead youth as his excuse...he's just pathetic. However, he found himself involved in a ring of people scamming identities off unsuspecting people, the absolute horror of the whole thing is, where's the necessity?

If he stole meat to feed his family..I might understand. But Tanner was in a movie with Samuel L. Jackson, remember Coach Carter? So, it's not like he needed the money or if he DID he shouldn't have had to resort to stealing other peoples identities to get it. In my opinion that's one of the lowest things you can do to another human being.

Thieves, people who will walk up to you and stick a gun in your face and TAKE your belongings are the worst pigs imaginable. Thieves who can climb in your window and steal your t.v/VCR/shoes/clothes/jewelery etc. are also the worst pigs imaginable...we had to WORK years for most of that stuff so who has the right to just walk up and take it? Awful!

But thieves who can take your whole existence, which is what your social security number basically is, and sell it to the highest bidder, are even lower than the worst pigs imaginable because at least you know when you've been robbed. You don't know you've been identity 'thefted' until your credit card is declined in the Target! That Tanner only got 3 mo's is disheartening too. If I was one of the people impacted by his actions I'd be deeply saddened that my hardship is only worth 3 mos to a rich dude gone wrong.

Obama billboards down, Not the Next Top Model

After speaking with White House lawyers, Weatherproof has agreed to take down the billboard the sporting goods company put up last week. Posted in New York's Times Square, the advertisement featured president Barack Obama, standing at the Great Wall of China, bundled up in one of their jackets.

Of course the president wasn't modeling the jacket, he never even mentioned it in any of the press he gave while in China. Actually the company CEO, Freddie Stollmack, saw the picture and thought the jacket looked familiar. After checking it with a magnifying glass he immediately contacted the Associated Press and bought the rights to the image.

After the billboards went up and the White House responded negatively, citing illegal use of Obama's image for commercial advertising, Stollmack said he never said Obama endorsed the garment. So, in his mind, he didn't do anything wrong.

Except, that in the history of the presidency, no other president has ever been featured in any kind of commercial ad campaign. Have other presidents and first ladies worn designer clothing? Certainly, and they've made the public aware of exactly what they were wearing...fine..

But never has an image of a sitting president been clipped and posted publicly, let alone in the most visible spot in the world, the implication being that Obama is some kind of model/president...whether Stollmack said it or not, the billboard itself IS an endorsement. And it's just not dignified.

I understand the public fascination with both Obama and Michelle and I even understand the JFK/Jackie comparison..modern, hip, fashionable...yes, yes, yes...but we cannot forget that this man is the leader of the free world. He should be treated with the same reverence that Bush, Clinton, Reagan and all the others before him have received. He should certainly not be reduced to America's Next Top Model.

Hurray for Conan! Don't Take it Lying Down!

Well the news has been all over every media outlet you can imagine and I guess its with good reason. I'm talking about the latest feud brewin' over at NBC, between Conan O'Brien and Jay Leno...It seems the brass over at NBC want to pull the plug on Jay's prime time fiasco and slide him back into his coveted 11:30 time slot. But Conan has refused to co-operate.

In a letter to all the "people of earth" O'Brien stood up for himself and against the NBC suits when he refused to be pushed back to a wacky 12:05 time slot. It's so obvious that NBC top dog, Jeff Zucker, (who should be fired) is trying to give Leno The Tonight Show back. The whole world can see that plain as the chin on Leno's face. But what's a little more vague to me is, how NBC could think Conan would lie down for it? I mean come ON...they made the guy wait 4 years to inherit the Carson franchise then they try and pull it out from under him after just FIVE months...in what world is that good business? O'Brien uprooted his family and staff from New York to L.A. just for this gig, for heavens sake...

Well, NBC is clearly in a breach of contract situation and from what I hear Conan's contract is worth a reported $45mil. So, if they want Leno back at 11:30 it looks like it's gonna cost the station heavily. I guess, them's the breaks..

Port-Au-Prince, Haiti Rocked by 7.0 'Quake

The Caribbean country was devastated yesterday as the largest earthquake in 200 years, leveled the Haitian capital, Port-Au-Prince. No confirmed death count has been announced yet but thousands, possibly millions are feared dead.

Obama has sent his condolences to the seaside country and said he is poised to do whatever we can as a country to help them out. Emergency medical teams across several states in the U.S. are ready to fly out to be of assistance, as they will need as much help as they can get to begin to dig out of the rubble and rebuild.

To help, contact your local RED CROSS or UNICEF organizations, or you can text Wyclef Jean's foundation, by texting "Yele" to 501501 from your cell you will automatically donate $5 to the Yelé Haiti Earthquake Fund (charged to your bill), or visit www.Yele.org to make donations. P.E.A.C.E

Harry Reid's no Racist, Obama even said so!

If you didn't know, Democratic Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid, is on the hot seat for using less than politically correct language in an attempt to praise president Barack Obama.

In A new book, “Game Change,” about the 2008 presidential campaign, Reid was reported to have given Obama his stamp approval, believing that America was ready for a black presidential candidate, certainly one like Obama "a “light-skinned” African-American “with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one.”

His comments raised debate all across the country, even the ladies of The View had a heated debate over his turn of phrase. But it doesn't appear that he meant anything he said in any kind of negative way. This is a guy who has always stood on the side of democrats for goodness' sake.

Of course, Republicans have begun the call for Reid's resignation (one more democrat gone, the better for the GOP). However, democrats including Obama himself don't believe Reid should step down as Majority Leader.

Obama said,

"Harry Reid is a friend of mine. He has been a stalwart champion of voting rights, civil rights. This is a good man who has always been on the right side of history, for him to have used some inartful language in trying to praise me and for people to try to make hay out of that makes absolutely no sense."

Reid issued an apology to the President, who accepted wholeheartedly but the fallout won't truly be known until the conclusion of the election. In Reid's home state of Nevada, he is currently trailing the leading Republican candidates in the race for the Senate.

Dumb or Dumbest? From Reality TV to Jail...

Newsflash people-If you've committed a crime, you might not want to go on a reality tv show. My warning may come too late as it has just been reported that Joshua Tel Warner, 23, from Discovery Channel's, Deadliest Catch tv series has been arrested. Now, if you're not into fishing you probably don't even know who this guy is but keep reading because this blog isn't about fishing or the show in general.

It's about fools (and I'm sure we all know many of those). Mr. Warner was one of the more unusual characters of the hit shows '09 season but what doesn't make much sense to me is, why would a person who has committed several burglaries go on tv in the first place? It was his participation in the tv show that got him recognized as the robber of three banks in Eugene, Oregon as far back as '07. And once the warrant was issued for his arrest, a routine traffic stop got him pinched by the police. Fool...
It seems to me, either you're a robber or tv personality but there's no way you can be both. The publicity of the tv gig goes in direct contrast of the anonymity REQUIRED to be a repeat offender...it's just the rules.

Warner is being held on $30,000 bail in a Tazewell Co, Ill jail.
